A youth of poverty, heartache, and grief left fifteen-year-old Amelia Kennedy a reserved skeptic of love. When the new, charming student, Ethan Moreno, presents himself in her class, she's determined to keep him at arm's length. Too bad he has other plans - ones that she can't resist.
When their path later leads in an unexpected direction,
a wrench is thrown, and their planned future becomes anything but. A harsh reality tears them apart when Ethan enlists in the Army, leaving her alone to pick up the pieces of her broken heart. Locked in a tumbling rotation of reality versus nightmare, Amelia's stuck in the revolve of an anxiety-fueled unknown. Distinguishing what's real from what's not becomes nearly impossible.
When Ethan's discharged and sent home after his second deployment, drowning in the shadows of his own dark memories, how will the two fare seeing one another for the first time in eight years?
And when Amelia learns the reality of his return, how will she survive?
4.5 STARS — ARC Read
This copy is an ebook version of June Mitchell's debut published novel, "Beyond the Stars," the first of her series.
I had the pleasure of reading and reviewing another ARC, this time by my good friend June. And let’s just say that this story hit me like a bag of bricks (in a good way).
HEART-WARMING
“Sometimes, in order to appreciate what you have now and where your life is going, you have to let go of the ideas your past self had of how things would one day be."
WHY I FELL IN LOVE
This story packs a world of life lessons that I didn’t even know I needed to hear (or read), it’s emotional to the very last second, and the storyline is just beautiful.
WHERE THE STORY TOOK ME
More than a love story, it is a journey about life—two lives—and how they coincide in more ways than one. I devoured this story in one day, and I wish I could experience it for the first time again.
DISCLAIMER
I do want to say that my reason for giving the story 4.5 stars instead of 5 is because I felt like Tara's and Austin's storylines with Mills felt a little rushed, or it could've used a liiiitle more build-up.
Other than that, this story was perfect or....“Beyond the stars, Hermosa.”
WHERE CAN YOU FIND JUNE
Here's her website where you can find her book, learn more about who she is, and the links to her social media platforms!
Please, please do yourself the favor of following her journey as a self-published author...you won't regret it!!
